NY HORISONT: periscope and roof installed in ruin             NEXT IMAGE

Alver municipality, Vestland (NO)

NEW HORIZON invites the Alver public to re-view their horizon on the grounds of historic change. The artwork engages the foundation of an abandoned home that was used as a tax- and unemploy-ment office and a library before being demolished.

From within this ruin, a two-way periscope points to the bridge that connects the island municipality with the mainland, while from outside the ruin the view is reversed: Current global urgencies replace the former pull towards cities with a new focus on local anchoring and potentials.

The NEW HORIZON art work is embedded in the local community by engaging in local collaborations and using local materials.
